Michele Rumsey has over 25 years of experience directing international health care research, advice and policy, with a focus on Papua New Guinea and the South Pacific. Michele’s consultancy and research work includes designing capacity development activities targeting health system strengthening through leadership capacity, curriculum development and faculty development. Michele established the WHO Collaborating Centre for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Development in 2008, and under Michele’s leadership, the Centre has carried out 50 projects in 25 countries and coordinated projects to the value of $18million over a six-year period. Michele’s work in PNG has focused on addressing the needs of health care workers – particularly the education, training and development needs of nurses, midwives and community health workers – and other health issues including the challenges involved in delivery health care to urban and rural communities
