Matthew is the CEO of TEAR Australia and has over 27 years of experience working with relief and development organisations across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Pacific. Fifteen of these years were also spent living in the African countries of Zambia, Malawi, Kenya and South Africa. Matthew’s career has spanned the diversity of the sector—from village-level rural development projects, to complex humanitarian emergency responses, advocacy and public policy development, disability empowerment and regional management roles for global INGOs.
Matthew currently serves as a Vice President of the ACFID Board and is Co-Chair of ACFID’s Development Practice Committee, as well as a member of the Executive Committee for the Campaign for Australian Aid. He is involved globally as Vice Chair of the Boards of both Micah Global and the Integral Alliance (a global disaster response network of Christian agencies). Every opportunity he gets will find him out with his wife Susan and their two boys, enjoying the beauty of greater Victoria.
