Dr Kirsty Thompson is the Strategic Advisor on Disability Inclusion for CBM Australia. Drawing on her prior experience establishing and leading the Inclusive Development Department in CBM Australia, Kirsty is now leading the development of the CBM Federation Disability Inclusive Development Advisory Program. Kirsty is an occupational therapist who has worked for 20 years in a range of disability related advocacy, program, policy and research areas in Australia and across various countries throughout Asia, the Middle East, East Africa and the Pacific. Throughout her career as a disability and development practitioner, Kirsty has been involved to varying degrees in policy and practice around ensuring child protection and wider work on safe environments addresses the needs of the most vulnerable children and young adults, including those with a disability. She has a particular interest in community-based programs and a rights-based approach to disability and development.
